Itinerary

Day 1: ATHENS

Arrival at Athens International Airport followed by an assisted transfer to the hotel.

Day 2: ATHENS > EPIDAURUS > OLYMPIA

Depart from Athens for the Corinth Canal (shortstop) and depart to Epidaurus and visit the Ancient Theatre, world famous for its outstanding acoustics. Then you enter the region of Argolis, land of Homer’s Golden Mycenae, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Dating back to the second century B.C., Mycenae was one of the major centers of Greek civilization and a military stronghold which dominated much of southern Greece. You will see the Cyclopean Walls, the Lion’s Gate, the Royal Tombs, including Agamemnon & Clytemnestra’s, and the Treasury of Atreus, a magnificent 14th-century B.C. structure. In the afternoon depart for Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games, through the cities of Tripolis and Megalopolis. Overnight stay in Olympia. Meals: D

Day 3: OLYMPIA > PATRAS > DELPHI

After breakfast, set off with your guide and visit the impressive archaeological site of Olympia. Marvel at the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Hera, the altar of the Olympic flame, the Stadium and the Archaeological Museum. Depart via Patras to Rion, cross the Corinthian bay by the famous bridge to Antirion. Pass by the city of Nafpaktos and from there on, along the coastal road to Delphi, known in ancient times as the navel of the world. In the afternoon visit the picturesque mountain village of Arachova. Overnight stay in Delphi. Meals: B, D

Day 4: DELPHI > KALABAKA

In the early morning, visit the archaeological site of Delphi, one of the most important archaeological treasures, also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Head inside the Delphi museum and encounter numerous artifacts and relics that date back to 15th century BC. Continue to Kalabaka via Central Greece. Meals: B, D

Day 5: KALABAKA > METEORA > THERMOPYLAE > ATHENS

Depart in the morning for nearby Meteora to visit the breathtaking Monasteries. This UNESCO World Heritage site is home for more than 20 rock monasteries. Discover the natural beauty and the cultural heritage of this area. Return to Athens late in the afternoon passing the heroic monument of Leonidas at Thermopylae. Meals: B

Day 6: ATHENS

Today enjoy the marvels of Athens on a half-day tour! Depart for a photo stop at Panathinaiko Stadium where the first Olympic Games took place in 1896. It is the only stadium built out of white marble. Proceed, passing by Zappeion and Temple of Olympian Zeus. You will then pass the Athens Trilogy which includes the University of Athens, the Academy of Athens, and the National Library. Continue passing by National Garden, Hadrian’s Arc, St. Paul’s Church, Parliament, Tomb of the Unknown soldier, Schliemann’ House (Numismatic Museum), Catholic Cathedral, Old Parliament, Constitution Square, Russian Orthodox Church, and finally visit the famous Acropolis Temple!

Continue with a pleasant short walk passing by Herodion and Dionysos Theater, in order to visit the Acropolis museum. Main attractions such as votives, artifacts of everyday life, statues from archaic period, Caryatids, and of course the Parthenon hall with the metopes, the pediments and the frieze will impress you! Day 7: ATHENS

Breakfast and transfer to Athens International Airport at an arranged time. Meals: B
