Itinerary

Day 1: WELCOME TO PERU!

Welcome to Peru! Upon arrival in Lima, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day to explore the city on your own. Overnight in Lima.

Day 2: LIMA SIGHTSEEING

In the morning, wander through the main streets, squares and avenues of the city. We will begin by the “Parque del amor” in Miraflores, with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. Then we will have a panoramic view of the Huaca Pucllana, ceremonial center of the Lima culture. Continue to Main Square, where you will find the Palace of Government and the Municipal Palace. We will visit the Cathedral and walk up to the Convent of Santo Domingo, whose corridors were touched by San Martin de Porres and Santa Rosa de Lima in the XVII century and where currently lays their remains.

At the time of the lunch, we will be driven to Pueblo Libre to enjoy a delicious lunch at Cafe of the Museum, a contemporary restaurant located within the Larco Museum, which is an 18th-century mansion built on the summit of a pre-Colombian pyramid that dates from century VII. We will have the opportunity to see collections and treasures that have even travelled to several of the most famous museums in the world. The warehouse and the collection of erotic ceramics are missed.

Day 3: LIMA, CUSCO & THE SACRED VALLEY

After breakfast, transfer to the airport and flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, assistance at the airport and transfer to the Sacred Valley. The Sacred Valley of the Incas will welcome us today.  We will visit Awanacancha, a tourist complex where we will see and feed the Andean camelids such as the llamas and alpacas, and where the locals will show us the weaving and dyeing techniques of their traditional textiles. We will then go to the traditional Pisac Market where we will have free time to tour it and buy handicrafts. If you are in the mood of tasting something traditional, pass by the wood ovens and get some bread or empanadas.

Day 4: THE SACRED VALLEY

Our adventure continues exploring the less-visited treasures of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.  We will start at Chinchero, where we will be able to appreciate the beauty of the town and archeological site; and we will also have the possibility of participating in a brief exhibition of traditional textiles, the distinctive feature of the town, famous for the beauty and high quality of its textiles and ancestral dyeing techniques.  We will then continue to Moray, where the view is awesome due to the colossal concentric terraces simulating an amphitheatre. The purpose of it is to recreate 20 different types of microclimates, a measure that guaranteed the agricultural production of the empire. After that, we will go to Maras, the famous and millenary salt mines from colonial times.

The contrast of the white wells and the green valley is awesome and a must for a spectacular snapshot of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. In the afternoon, we will visit the archeological site of Ollantaytambo, where we will be able to learn about the technique with which the Incas worked the stones.

Day 5: MACHU PICCHU

At the arranged time, transfer to Ollantaytambo station where we will embark on one of the most spectacular rides onboard the exclusive Hiram Bingham deluxe train. The experience onboard is purely first class. The train’s incredible classic style goes perfectly with the dining room arrangement, making it easy to taste the delightful dishes carefully prepared for us by experienced chefs.

The landscapes are breathtaking and while we follow the Urubamba River course getting closer and closer to the canyon, we’ll arrive at Aguas Calientes. From there, we will take a small bus up the winding road to Machu Picchu. The Lost City of the Incas will astonish us with its terraces, ceremonial shrines, steps and the solar clock or Intihuatana, all this amid a special atmosphere and on a guided tour. After exclusive tea time, return to Aguas Calientes for dinner.

Day 6: MACHU PICCHU TO CUSCO

Today, enjoy the morning at your leisure. At the arranged time, we will take the train back to Cusco. Entertainment and fine gourmet dinner on board. Upon arrival, assistance and transfer to the hotel.

Day 7: CUSCO SIGHTSEEING

In the morning, we will get away from the crowds to visit Sacsayhuaman, an impressive citadel full of a colossal fortress surrounded by beautiful landscapes in complete communion with nature. We will then continue to the Inca shrine of Qenqo, with its awesome altar for sacrifices embedded in the side of the rock. We will finally reach the Puca Pucara watchtower and Tambomachay, a monument of noticeable architectural excellence, considered one of the pillars of the Andean view of the world.

In the afternoon, an exclusive city tour starts at San Cristobal Plaza to enjoy a panoramic view of the city. We will then visit Saint Peter Market, where we will be able to appreciate the local flavours and learn about the local produce in this market where you can find everything and is the main supply center of the city. We will then continue to the Koricancha Temple that will welcome us with its splendour. The Golden Precinct is the meaning of its name in Quechua and we can still feel the sumptuousness of its walls that were once lined in gold sheets.

From Saint Blas, the craftsmen’s quarters we will walk down along the Hatun Rumiyoc street, finding midway the Inca Roca Palace, today the Archbishop’s Palace; and we will have time to appreciate the worldwide famous Stone of the Twelve Angles. We will go on to the Main Square to visit the Cathedral that houses invaluable colonial works of art.

Day 8: CUSCO & PUNO

Departure on the Titicaca Train to Puno. This train offers an unforgettable trip between the magical cities of Cusco and Puno, crossing during the day, the Peruvian Andes until arriving at the shores of the mystic Lake Titicaca. The train can transport up to 132 passengers, offering an unprecedented experience and with the highest quality service. Its luxurious dining cars and car observatory bar allow the journey to be magical and unforgettable. Both have an impressive view that will allow us to contemplate the wonderful landscapes of the Peruvian Andes.

Along the way, a gourmet lunch accompanied by a glass of wine and an afternoon tea will be offered. We will make an entertaining stop at La Raya, a natural boundary between Puno and Cusco and then continue our journey to reach the city of Puno. Upon arrival, transfer to the exclusive Titilaka lodge, located on a private peninsula, at the shores of Lake Titicaca. Upon arrival, enjoy a delicious dinner at the lodge.

Day 9: PUNO

Day 10: DEPARTURE
