Yellowstone Multi-Generational Family Adventure

7 Nights & 8 Days

Jackson/Grand Teton National Park > Yellowstone National Park

One week in Wyoming experiencing a living piece of American history. Yellowstone by itself evokes imagery and emotions central to America, but add in rafting the Snake River, horse whispering, cattle handling and an evening at the Rodeo in Jackson Hole, and you have an All American Experience.

Upon arrival at Jackson Hole Airport, your driver will meet you at baggage claim and whisk you off to your family-friendly home for the next few nights, Teton Mountain Lodge and Spa.

The afternoon is at your leisure.

In the evening, your driver will take to the Jackson Hole Rodeo! Here, enjoy reserved seating for two action-packed hours of excitement where cowboys and cowgirls compete in events like Bull Riding, Bronc Riding, Barrel Racing, and Roping. You will also have the opportunity to go behind the chutes where the cowboys and cowgirls prepare to do battle in the arena. See the raw untamed, unedited, and uncovered underbelly of the sport, where getting dirty goes from possibility to inevitability!

Today, get ready for a wild adventure on the Snake River where you are guaranteed to feel the whitewater rapids in a private small, six-passenger raft. Dress to get wet!

Your driver will pick you up at your hotel and take you to the starting point at West Table Boat Ramp in the Snake River Canyon. From start to finish, you will cover a distance of about 8 miles, rafting over 8 sets of rapids that range from class I to class III. With such a small boat, you are in for more adventure as you will all need to work together to provide power to the raft to navigate downriver. Encounter river rapids known as Lunch Counter, Big Kahuna, Million Dollar Fishing Hole, Gauging Straights and Bailing Straights. Your experienced guides will provide expert instruction, share the history of the area as well as provide information about the incredible local flora and fauna.

Also, keep your eyes peeled for river otters, osprey and bald eagles, not to mention mountain goats, mule deer, elk, and even bears!

Midway through you wild ride, you will take a break to refuel with a homestyle cookout dinner! Feast on a hearty meal of meaty chili, fresh cornbread and homemade dessert. At the end of your meal, you will hit the water once again for a grand finale finish with the biggest rapids in the canyon.

Your driver will return you to your hotel at the conclusion of the day.

Today you will be taught what it truly means to be a cowboy!

Start your morning with a cup of coffee over an open fire, and jump right into the adventure by catching your horse. With private instruction, you will saddle your horse and be shown how to mount, sit, ride and direct your horse. After you are comfortable and ready to move on, learn how to work with the cattle.

Your expert guides will teach you the proper cattle handling methods and show you the stock dogs in action! You can even try your hand at roping while enjoying the beautiful view of the Teton Mountains at the ranch.

Depending on your skill level with the riding and your level of comfort around the animals, arrangements for a longer ride can certainly be made to explore the stunning surroundings. To finish, unsaddle your horse and turn him out before you depart for your hotel.

Early this morning, head to Grand Teton National Park. Be on the lookout for wildlife as your expert guide brings you through National Elk Refuge as you make your way through the park. As you get closer to Antelope Flats and Mormon Row, catch a glimpse of Bison and Pronghorn herds that inhabit the area. Stop at the visitor center before making your way to the impressive Jenny Lake, formed by glaciers thousands of years ago!

During lunch, you will have a special, once-in-a-lifetime experience: horse whispering. This unique art is based on the principles of developing a rapport with horses, using communication techniques derived from observation of free-roaming horses, and rejecting abusive training methods. Your experience will allow you to meet with a renowned horse whisperer.

During a typical demonstration, you will watch as the horse whisperer works with the horse, explaining the techniques he uses to communicate with the horse. The transformation seen in the horse is nothing short of amazing… and, as remarkable, is the change that takes place in you. Afterwards, enjoy a gourmet outdoor lunch and breathtaking views of the Grand Tetons.

Your last stop is the top of the day will be Signal Mountain. With magnificent views of the park and the Teton mountain range, you will also pass several picture-worthy sights like Jackson Lake and Snake River.
